Really, does the #1 team overall need 15 minutes to make their pick? They should be given about 18 seconds to make their pick. And the #2 team? Maybe 5 minutes. Actually, every team should get no more than 5 minutes. All these teams have employees whose whole role in life is to be prepared for the draft by reviewing players, creating lists, proposing trades, doing hypothetical scenarios, etc. When the pressure is on, it’s time to do your damn job.
There’s no reason that the first round should last 6 hours. It should last about 42 minutes.
