Dialing to the PSTN Isn’t Working…

…and you GUARANTEE it’s set up the same as other locations.

The scenario: You are bringing up a new SBA. The Lync side is up and running just fine. You can home users on the SBA and basic functionality tests out. You then set up the gateway side of the SBA the same way you’ve done elsewhere. Yet, no matter what you do, you cannot complete a call. The Lync client gives you some stupid message about “call can’t be completed”. The Lync Logging tool doesn’t show anything useful.

At this point, you need to look at the logs on the gateway. Here is what an AudioCodes spits out at you as you try to make an outbound call:

16:44:18.844 : 10.205.3.223 : WARNING : (      lgr_call)(6256      ) ?? [WARNING] Call::PassEvToOtherSide m_EndPoint is NULL!! [Time: 02-19-2013@22:44:17]

16:44:18.735 : 10.205.3.223 : WARNING : (      lgr_call)(6255      ) !! [ERROR] Call::GetEndPoint- Can’t find endpoint for phone number 13175555555 [Time: 02-19-2013@22:44:17]

16:44:18.571 : 10.205.3.223 : WARNING : (   lgr_psbrdif)(6254      ) !! [ERROR] MotherBoard::GetEndPoint- Can’t find EndPoint for Dest:13175555555 Source:24255555555 SourceIp:acd03e0 [Time: 02-19-2013@22:44:17]

16:44:18.458 : 10.205.3.223 : WARNING : (   lgr_TrnkGrp)(6253      ) !! [ERROR] #2:TrunkGroup::AllocateEndPoint- Can’t find EndPoint for phone number 13175555555 [Time: 02-19-2013@22:44:17]

That doesn’t mean anything to you. A couple of those words could prove to be useful. At least it sees your source and destination number. So then you spend a day or two going line-by-line over the config comparing it to both the AudioCodes manual and the other AudioCodes SBA that is working just fine.

Finally you give up and decide to get the telephony provider involved. Even though you see green lights in the interface and no errors, you think maybe you have the wrong line encoding or something.

Luckily, they reply within 30 minutes to your cry for help with this lovely response:

Please check again.  The trunks were turned down in the CO.

Say what? The Telco just had the line turned off? What? Why?

    Hi, How did you get around this was this a Telco issue or GW issue? I having the very same problem. My Audiocode is routing perfectly from Lync Mediation to GW and back.
