Dear Record Labels/Promoters/Bands

If you want to share the music of whatever band it is that you are promoting by making MP3’s available, please do the following:

1.) Name the MP3 file “Band Name-Song.mp3”. When looking through my PC to find the downloaded file, it will make it a whole lot easier to find the song to listen to when the band name is in there. Just seeing “charm.mp3”  isn’t really working for me. And if I want to hear it later, I seriously doubt I’m going to remember the song name. Remember, you’re promoting a band, not a song (unless you’re Dr. Demento).

2.) Fill out the id3v2 Tag information. Once I have found the poorly named mp3 file and added it to my current playlist, I’d like my MP3 player of choice to display more than the file name (You know: “charm.mp3”). Who the hell sings this song? Is “Charm” the name of the song or the name of the band? Fill in that id3v2 field called “URL” and put in the appropriate website.

Really, none of this is too hard. If you are at all a profesisonal working at a professional organization, I shouldn’t have to be telling you this.
