Internet Radio Day of Silence

In general, the Day of Silence is a protest against the upcoming rate hike that webcasters need to pay for royalties. There are quite a few powerhouse online streaming stations broadcasting silence today…Launchcast, Live365, MTV Radio, Soma FM…and much smaller casters such as imsmarterthanyou.com. Bug one of your Senators to vote against implementing prohibitive royalty rates.

Nice Echo & The Bunnymen Video

Oh I’ve seen this one before, but it’s probably been 10 years. It’s not too bad of a video given the limited budget and 80’s-ness of it all.  Plus the song is great, so that always helps.

Here is the information as found at this website http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=34166: An invaluable document of Martin Hannett (the ‘post-punk Phil Spector’ as the liner notes would have it) and his work with Joy Division, which …

Dear Record Labels/Promoters/Bands

If you want to share the music of whatever band it is that you are promoting by making MP3’s available, please do the following: 1.) Name the MP3 file “Band Name-Song.mp3”. When looking through my PC to find the downloaded file, it will make it a whole lot easier to find the song to listen …

Aereogramme Breaks Up

Dammit. They are one of my favorite bands over the past 3 or 4 years. This, according to nme.com:  Scottish rockers Aereogramme have split up, citing “the never-ending financial struggle coupled with an almost superhuman ability to dodge the zeitgeist” as their reasons. The band, signed to Glasgow‘s influential Chemikal Underground label (sometime home of …
